3News Ireland (previously TV3 News) is the news hub which produces news and current affairs programming for the TV3 Group based in Ireland.
It provides news for free-to-air channels TV3, 3e and be3.
Its first broadcast took place on September 20, 1998 when TV3 launched. The news service is available on TV, online, on-demand and on mobile. 3News starts updates weekdays from 07:00 until 23:00 each weekday. These updates are either part of existing TV3 shows such as Ireland AM or as stand alone news programmes such as the flagship The 5:30 and News at 8:00. Between Monday to Thursday news updates are served by Tonight with Vincent Browne from 23:00. A lunchtime bulletin is served by the The 12:30 each weekday.
TV3 no-longer broadcasts any weekend news bulletins but this changed on 29 August 2015.
From 9 January 2017 TV3 News will become 3News Ireland. The new look 3News will be led by new Head of News Mick McCaffrey (formerly Ireland Live).

Prior to launch of TV3 in Ireland, its strategy was to produce Ireland's first independent television news service. The first televisual broadcast of TV3 News took place at 18:00 on 20 September 1998, 30 minutes after the channel launched.
Initially, TV3 News was presented by Gráinne Seoige (from Nuacht TG4) and Alan Cantwell. The current main evening bulletin takes place from 17:30 to 18:00 and is presented by Alan Cantwell and Colette Fitzpatrick. All bulletins are broadcast from the chromakeyed news studio at the TV3 studio complex at Ballymount, Dublin. TV3 News Tonight was broadcast Monday to Friday at 23:00. The Week in Review broadcast on Sunday nights at 23:00.
