Sovetsky District (Russian: Сове́тский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the thirty-eight in Saratov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the center of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,400 square kilometers (540 sq mi). Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Stepnoye. Population: 28,012 (2010 Census);30,195 (2002 Census);28,936 (1989 Census). The population of Stepnoye accounts for 46.9% of the district's total population.
