South Carolina Highway 802 (SC 802), is a 6.7 mile (11 km) state highway located entirely within Beaufort County, South Carolina. Also known locally as Sams Point Road, SC 802 serves as the principal arterial for Lady's Island.
SC 802 runs in a generally southwest to northeast direction. SC 802 travels along the entirety of Sams Point Road, ending at the Coosaw Island Bridge where the state route discontinues and the road becomes Coosaw Island Drive. For two miles, Sams Point Road consists of four travel lanes, a center turning lane, and pedestrian pathways. At the intersection of Brickyard Point Road and Holly Hall Road, the right lane turns onto Holly Hall Road, one lane continues eastbound, and the left turning lane directs traffic to Brickyard Point Road. While there is no signal at this intersection, congestion is greatly reduced by forming one westbound lane from SC 802 and one from Brickyard Point Road. SC 802 continues along Sams Point Road for another four miles along the old two-lane section through many of the islands large housing developments until crossing Lucy Creek and terminating onto Coosaw River Drive.
Until 2012, SC 802 once was a 14.9 mile (24 km) long route that traversed Lady's Island, Port Royal, and Shell Point along Lady's Island Drive, Ribaut Road, Parris Island Gateway, and Savannah Highway. With the re-routing of US 21, the route for SC 802 was truncated to the current 6.7 mile length. The Savannah Highway portion of SC 802 became South Carolina Highway 128, while other portions of the route were re-designated as US 21.
The entire route was in Beaufort County.
