South Beach is a census-designated place (CDP) on Orchid Island in Indian River County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,457 at the 2000 census. It is ranked tenth in Florida locations by per capita income.
South Beach is part of the Sebastian–Vero Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area.

South Beach CDP on Orchid Island is bounded on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by the county line between Indian River and St Lucie counties, on the west by the Indian River Lagoon and on the north by the Vero Beach city limits.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.9 square miles (17.8 km²), of which 2.7 square miles (7.0 km²) is land and 4.2 square miles (10.9 km²) (60.81%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,457 people, 1,610 households, and 1,220 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,279.8 people per square mile (494.4/km²). There were 2,066 housing units at an average density of 764.9/sq mi (295.4/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.15% White, 0.58% African American, 0.09% Native American, 1.01% Asian, 0.06% from other races, and 0.12% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.36% of the population.
