"Soul Deep" was the third single taken from Swedish pop duo Roxette's 1986 debut album Pearls of Passion. It was only released in a few European countries and Canada. The single peaked at #18 on the charts in Sweden, but failed to chart elsewhere.
The song was originally written in Swedish and was called "Dansar ner för ditt stup i rekordfart" but that title was considered too silly.Per Gessle wrote new lyrics in English and eventually Roxette recorded it for their debut album and for their 1987 single. "Soul Deep" was re-arranged and remixed for release on the Joyride album from 1991. This remix was also included on the RoxBox compilation.
The song "Pearls of Passion" was included as a B-Side to "Queen of Rain" but was not included on any album until the re-issue of Pearls of Passion in 1997.
Melody of the song is referenced to "Before It's Too Late" performed by Jackie Day in 1967.
