Soldier is a city in Monona County, Iowa, United States, along the Soldier River. The population was 174 at the 2010 census.

Soldier was so named from a nearby unmarked grave of a soldier.

Soldier is located at 41°59′5″N 95°46′48″W / 41.98472°N 95.78000°W / 41.98472; -95.78000 (41.984598, -95.779916).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.29 square miles (0.75 km2), all of it land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 174 people, 88 households, and 48 families residing in the city. The population density was 600.0 inhabitants per square mile (231.7/km2). There were 111 housing units at an average density of 382.8 per square mile (147.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 94.8% White, 0.6% African American, 1.1% Native American, and 3.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.9% of the population.
