Sisir Mishra is an Indian film director and screenwriter most renowned for directing critically acclaimed films like "Bheegi Palkein", "Samay Ki Dhara", "Billoo Baadshaah", "TADA" and "Aseema".

He was born in Bomkei, Near Digapahandi, Brahmapur in Ganjam district of Odisha. He is the son of Purushottam Mishra. His father was an engineer under British Govt. He completed his B.Sc in Khallikote College, Brahmapur and M.Sc in Physics from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack

He left his academic career as lecturer in Physics, moved to Mumbai in 1965 and started his film career in Hindi films as an Assistant Director under Mehboob Khan of Mother India fame and under Director Jyoti Swarup of "Padosan" fame .

He directed many box office hit films in Oriya like Sindura Bindu, Suna Sansaara, Subarna Seeta, Samaya Bada Balawaan, Ei Ama Sansaara, Bastra Harana, Suna Bhauja, Sabata Maa, etc..

He directed many Hindi movies like Bheegi Palkein, Samay Ki Dhara, Billoo Baadshaah, TADA and Aseema, etc.

Popularly known as the 'Dronacharya of Oriya Cinema, Sisir Mishra pioneered modern film making in Oriya cinema. He is a perfectionist who doesn't believe in compromising on the quality of his work at any cost. He is hence regarded as the best Director of Oriya cinema. He won many awards. His family includes wife Kadambini Mishra (co-scriptwriter of number of his films), Sons - Sagar & Sameer daughters-in-law Smita and Priya and Grandsons - Aditya & Harsh
