Sina Afra (born 21 October 1968) is a Turkish-German internet entrepreneur, angel investor and author. Afra is best known as the co-founder of Markafoni, an online fashion site operating in Turkey and other countries. He also co-founded Undo-labs and Evtiko. He serves as the chairman of the Entrepreneurship Foundation, which he co-founded in 2014 with other entrepreneurs.
Afra was born in Ankara, Turkey, to Haluk and Sencan Afra. His father was a Turkish diplomat, and his mother was an art historian. Due to his father's career, Afra grew up in the Netherlands and Germany. He graduated from the University of Münster in 1992 as "Diplom Kaufmann." During his studies, he spent part of his time in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Afterwards, he joined Harvard Business School for higher degree.
After completing his studies, Afra worked as a Management Consultant at KPMG from 1993–2005. He started as a Junior Consultant and was promoted to Principal in 2002. His area of expertise was Strategic Finance and Strategy. In 2006, Afra joined eBay as the Director of Corporate Development. He was responsible for M&A and Strategy. After eBay acquired GittiGidiyor in May 2007, he moved to Istanbul and joined GittiGidiyor’s Board while being eBay's representative in Turkey.
Evtiko is a technology company, founded in 2016 by Afra in Istanbul. The company provides technology services to the customer for finding solutions for buying and selling real estate.
Afra co-founded Markafoni in late 2008. Markafoni became the first Turkish internet company to expand beyond the borders of Turkey. In 2009, a branch was started in Sydney, Australia. In 2010, Markafoni was expanded to Greece, and in Poland in 2011. Afra was Chairman and CEO of Markafoni as well as Chairman of each subsidiary. In July 2011 the Naspers Group acquired a majority stake in Markafoni. Afra stayed on as Chairman, CEO and shareholder of the Markafoni Group, leaving in May 2014 after selling his remaining shares to Naspers.
