Sibley County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2010 census, the population was 15,226. Its county seat is Gaylord. Sibley County is included in the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, MN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 601 square miles (1,560 km2), of which 589 square miles (1,530 km2) is land and 12 square miles (31 km2) (2.0%) is water.
Most of the Rush River's watershed is located in Sibley County.
As of the census of 2000, there were 15,356 people, 5,772 households, and 4,086 families residing in the county. The population density was 26 people per square mile (10/km²). There were 6,024 housing units at an average density of 10 per square mile (4/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 95.57% White, 0.12% Black or African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.33% Asian, 3.09% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. 5.43% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. 65.7% were of German and 6.3% Norwegian ancestry.
