Sharkansky District (Russian: Шарка́нский райо́н; Udmurt: Шаркан ёрос) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-five in the Udmurt Republic, Russia. It is located in the east of the republic. The area of the district is 1,404.5 square kilometers (542.3 sq mi). Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Sharkan. Population: 19,100 (2010 Census); 21,384 (2002 Census);21,487 (1989 Census). The population of Sharkan accounts for 34.6% of the district's total population.
