Samalkha is a town/tehsil and a municipal committee in Panipat district in the Indian state of Haryana. Industries in the town include cast iron (fodder cutting machines), nuts and bolts, iron rods (Saria) and bathroom fittings manufacture.
Samalkha has an average elevation of 227 metres (745 ft) It is situated on GT road, 19 km (11.7 miles) south of Panipat, 72 kilometres (45 mi) from the capital Delhi, 136 km (84 miles) south of Ambala and 178 km (110 miles) southwest of Chandigarh, the state capital .
As of 2001[update] India census, Samalkha had a population of 29,974. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Samalkha has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 61.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 69%. In Samalkha, 20% of the population is under 6 years of age.It is birthplace of Oshobela founder Master Antar Bhupinder (26.04.1970)

The sweets of samalkha are very famous all over the India.. Some of the famous sweets are ghewar,gajar barfi, Pawti ka Peda etc.
