The commune was formed by merging the former communes of Saint-Maurice-Échelotte and Colombier-Châtelot in 1972.
Marcel CORNUEL, Karate master, awarded by a governmental medal for his contribution in sports, died on September 24, 2014, in Saint-Maurice-Colombier, at the age of 84.
