Süpermenler is a Turkish-Italian action film which was heavily inspired by the superhero, Superman. Filmed in 1979, it stars Cüneyt Arkın, a popular name in Turkish action films of the period. It was filmed in and around İstanbul, in places such as Emirgan.

A German professor (Ali Şen) constructs a time machine and decides to experiment with it in Turkey. He discovers where the Byzantines hid their treasury during the Fall of Constantinople. After this success becomes known, the mafia and world powers fight for the ownership of the time machine. The boss of the mafia wants to find his lost heroin and the world powers want to rule their enemies via the machine. Murat (Cüneyt Arkın) and the other "Süpermenler", a band of three detective superheroes, come to the aid of the German scientist and manage to save the world in the end.

The film gained cult status because of its heavy imitation of Western superhero and detective films of its time, and was compared by many to Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam. Because of the political conditions of the country during the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Turkish film market had far less capital than their Western colleagues, which led to an economic doctrine of using unauthorized footage and soundtracks from hit foreign films. This remixing gave Turkish films of the period an original flavor, and turned the genre into a cult phenomenon.
