Roccamontepiano is a comune and town in the Province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region of Italy.
Famous Inhabitants
Zappacosta, Arduino (05/08/1921-12/04/2009) a man of character, few words, passionate about labor and family. This former young Vino Cotto farmer served for Italy at WWII. Having survived the German concentration camps after Mussolini was overthrow, he safely returned to his beloved town Roccamontepiano, Chieti and married the most beautiful and intelligent woman in town: Adela D'Africa (26/10/1926-08/08/2015). Facing terrible post-war conditions at "La Rocca", among with their families, they decided to make a revolutionary trip around the world in search of "La America".
After conceiving their only son, Antonio (21/04/1951), Arduino first departed on a tremendous boat trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. He arrived with a couple Liras, a wooden box with old clothes, his hands in his pockets and a big dream. With determination, neat work and conviction he started adding value at different jobs to produce the basic resources for a decent life. He had a clear objective in mind: to bring his family to Argentina, stop suffering the sequels of the War and build a future for his descendants.
Day and nights, Arduino worked terribly hard in the construction industry, Roche Laboratories, among other jobs while Adela worked diligently, with no hurry but no pause, at home raising Tonino inculcating the values of sacrifice, family union and progress. Tony became a full time Doctor (Orthopedic Surgeon) and brought to the world four Italian-raised grandchildren to Adela & Arduino: Maria Pía (Doctor -Gynecologist-), Juan Ignacio (Economist), Juan Agustin (Accountant) and Juan Francisco (Lawyer). Despite the family union did not result as planned, the rest of the core values where installed among the professional, bilingual and sportsmen grandsons who will spread the "Never forget where you come from" word.
Nowadays the second generation of Zappacosta's in Argentina is represented by four beautiful intrepid cousins with a whole life to explore. They carry the adventurous and tenacious DNA of Adela & Arduino who would protect and guide them for life.
