Riverton is a city in Fremont County, Iowa, United States, along the East Nishnabotna River. The population was 304 at the 2010 census.

Riverton was laid out in 1870.

The 1881 robbery of the Sexton Bank at Riverton was initially suspected to be the work of Jesse James, but it was soon determined to be the work of the outlaw Poke Wells.

Riverton is located at 40°41′10″N 95°34′4″W / 40.68611°N 95.56778°W / 40.68611; -95.56778 (40.686202, -95.567905) along the East Nishnabotna River.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.59 square miles (1.53 km2), all of it land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 304 people, 120 households, and 83 families residing in the city. The population density was 515.3 inhabitants per square mile (199.0/km2). There were 131 housing units at an average density of 222.0 per square mile (85.7/km2).
