Aedas (/ˈaɪdɪs/, from Latin , "to build") is an international architectural firm and is one of the world's largest. The practice provides architecture, interior design, landscape design, urban design, masterplanning, and graphics. Aedas design experience includes mixed-use, office, retail, residential, hotel, infrastructure, education, culture, and adaptive reuse.
Aedas was established in 1985 by Keith Griffiths in Hong Kong. Originally known as Hackett and Griffiths and later LPT Architects, the company was commissioned to design the new Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club on Middle Island (1986), followed by Landmark 2 and Gaysorn Shopping Centre in Bangkok (1994), and Pacific Plaza in Singapore.
In 1993 the company secured its first Mass Transit Railway project in Hong Kong – the Siu Ho Wan depot to serve The Airport Express, Tung Chung Line and Disneyland Resort Line. This project was followed by further Mass Transit Railway work along the Tseung Kwan O Line, Tung Chung Line, Disneyland Resort Line, West Island Line, South Island Line and West Rail Line.
The company designed Pacific Plaza and John Hancock Tower and opened the Singapore office in 1994; and designed Kuala Lumpur Sentral and opened the Kuala Lumpur office in Malaysia in 1996.
