Polson is a city in Lake County, Montana, United States, on the southern shore of Flathead Lake. It is also on the Flathead Indian Reservation. The population was 4,488 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lake County. The city was named after pioneer rancher David Polson.

Polson is located at 47°41′17″N 114°9′24″W / 47.68806°N 114.15667°W / 47.68806; -114.15667 (47.688089, -114.156766).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.17 square miles (10.80 km2), of which, 4.14 square miles (10.72 km2) is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 4,488 people, 1,991 households, and 1,150 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,084.1 inhabitants per square mile (418.6/km2). There were 2,506 housing units at an average density of 605.3 per square mile (233.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 74.7% White, 0.2% African American, 15.7% Native American, 0.8% Asian, 0.6% from other races, and 8.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.4% of the population.
