Plattekill is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 1,260 at the 2010 census. The community like its town is named after a local stream, the Platte Kill.

Plattekill is in the south part of the Town of Plattekill. The community is adjacent to the New York State Thruway (Interstate 87) at the junction of Routes 32 and 13 and is one mile (1.6 km) north of the county line of Orange County.

Plattekill is located at 41°36′42″N 74°4′20″W / 41.61167°N 74.07222°W / 41.61167; -74.07222 (41.611799, -74.072256).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.6 square miles (6.8 km²), of which, 2.6 square miles (6.8 km²) of it is land and 0.38% is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,050 people, 346 households, and 263 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 401.5 per square mile (154.7/km²).
