Pakistan Engineering Council (Urdu: پاكستان انجینئری انجمن; acronym PEC), is a professional and statutory federal institution for accreditation and regulation of chartered and professional engineers. PEC is dedicated to promoting education programs in applied science, computing and engineering. Established in 1976 by the PEC 1976 Act of the Constitution of Pakistan, it represents the engineering community in the country, and assists the government at the Federal and Provincial level.
PEC grants license and issues registration of engineers, consulting engineers, technician. It is also discharged with the accreditation of engineering programs throughout the country. PEC also acts as a think tank to the government and undertakes efforts to establish scientific standards for engineering innovations and services. Its headquarters is located in Islamabad, Pakistan PEC has a provisional signatory status with Washington Accord.
