National Beef Association

The National Beef Association or NBA is the main organisation in the UK that represents the UK beef cattle industry.

It was formed in the early 1990s. According to Kantar Worldpanel, the UK beef market was worth around £2.17bn. In the 1980s, according to The Caterer and Hotelkeeper, the most popular dinner menu in British restaurants was Prawn cocktail, steak and Black Forest gateau. The traditional Sunday roast nearly always consists of roast beef. Roast beef is a national dish of England.

The Scottish Beef Cattle Association (SBCA) merged with the NBA in Scotland in December 2012.

It is based in Hexham off the A6079, formerly in the district of Tynedale, now in the unitary authority of Northumberland. Northumberland is headquartered in Morpeth. Chris Mallon is the Chief Executive. The organization was incorporated as a limited company (3678612) on 4 December 1998.

It has four specialist committees:

It has regional councils for the North, the Midlands, the South West, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland (SBA, based in Colinsburgh).

It represents the beef industry in the United Kingdom. It holds the NBA Beef Expo at the end of May, at York Auction Centre in 2015. It publishes Beef Farmer, its journal, printed by Shepherd Publishing of Chailey, East Sussex.
