The Naples metropolitan area (Italian: Area metropolitana di Napoli) is a metropolitan area in Campania, Italy, centered on the city of Naples. With a population of around 4,5 million, it's the third most populous metropolitan area on the European part of Mediterranean coast (after Barcelona and Athens), and one of the biggest metropolises in Europe.
Naples urban area and metropolitan area is the second most populous in Italy, after Milan. The urban area (core of the metropolitan area) has a population of 3,020,000 being the 10th-most populous urban area in the European Union.
