Mike Griffiths CBE is a police officer in the United Kingdom. He is currently the Chief Constable and Chief Executive of the Civil Nuclear Constabulary. Previously, he was an officer of the British Army, who retired as a Brigadier.
Griffiths spent part of his childhood in Carlisle and started his military career as a cadet in the Keswick detachment of Cumbria Army Cadet Force. He studied at the University of Southampton and graduated in politics and international studies.
Griffiths was commissioned into the King's Own Royal Border Regiment in 1979. Subsequently he was the Battalion's final commanding officer before it was amalgamated into the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. He served in various operational theatres, including Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Cyprus and Afghanistan. His final Army appointment was as Director, Personnel Services Army (PSA).
He was appointed by the chairman of the Civil Nuclear Police Authority, Philip Trousdell.
Griffiths was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2011, for his work as Director PSA. He was appointed a CBE in the New Year’s Honours 2011.
