Matiari District (Sindhi: ضِلعو مٽیاري‎) is a district in the Pakistani province of Sindh. The district was created in 2005 out of Hyderabad District.

The district is administratively subdivided into three talukas:

Muhammad Usman Chachar was the first District Coordination Officer (D.C.O) of district matiari and he served for 3 years. That was benazir bhutto's dream that matiari became a district and she visited several times matiari at hashmi house at that time she also visited shrine of sakhi hashim shah badshah and said that when I came to matiari I feel that I'm at my home syed pir noor shah hashmi and his family had always served for district matiari.

The shrine of sakhi Hashim shah badshah is also located in matiari, matiari is the city of the sayeds and matiari is also famous of its ice cream, kashi, ajrak ( a Sindhi dressing) and sindhi handicraft. Hazrat shah Abdul latif bhittai is also located in matiari. The word matiari is derived from muthal of Mat-yari that means the relation with pots made of mud, clay to keep water cool and serve people that came from outside.

In the 1998 census, Sindhi was the first language of 92% of the population in the talukas of Hala and Matiari, while 3.6% had Urdu.
