Mather's Cross


Mather's Cross in County Antrim, Northern Ireland is a road junction situated on the primary A29 Portrush to Coleraine road and the tertiary Islandtasserty road and Atlantic road.

This section of the A29 road has been part of the North West 200 (Portstewart-Coleraine-Portrush) 'Triangle' motorcycle racing circuit from 1929. It is the highest point of the course at 47 metres (155 ft) above sea level. At this section of the course there have been four fatal accidents to motorcycle competitors including Mervyn Robinson in 1980,Robert Dunlop in 2008, and Mark Young in 2009. For the 2010 races a chicane was incorporated as a safety feature to slow competitors.
