Marden High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear, England. It has been a Designated Media Arts College since 2003 and the Marden City Learning Centre has been situated on the grounds in front of the school since it was opened on 15 July 2003. Marden High School has specialist status as a Media Arts, Science and Maths College.
The school has state of the art facilities for digital media and they aim to achieve higher standards across the curriculum by the application of digital media. The school runs courses include digital movie making, web design, image editing and sound recording and editing and the school share their expertise with other schools, both locally and nationally.The school's media curriculum extends beyond the normal school day for both students and the community. The school works with creative professionals so that students gain the high level skills required for employment in the Media Arts.
In 2007 Marden High School was successfully redesignated as a Media Arts College and were awarded a second specialism in Sciences and Maths. The school offer enhanced Science & Maths activities on the curriculum which allow more students to access the separate and highly academic study of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Marden High School teach early entry A-level modules in Science and Mathematics in Year 11 and enrich these subjects with further activities in the extended curriculum.
