As per orders of the Delimitation Commission, No. 135 Mandirbazar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (SC) is composed of the following: Mandirbazar community development block and Laksmi-Narayanpur Dakshin, Laksmi-Narayanpur Uttar, Mathurapur Paschim and Mathurapur Purba gram panchayats of Mathurapur I community development block.

In the 2011 elections Joydeb Haldar of Trinamool Congress defeated his nearest rival Dr.Sarat Halder of CPI(M).

In the 2006 state assembly electionsDr. Tapati Saha of CPI(M) won the Mandirbazar (SC) assembly seat defeating Choudhury Mohan Jatua of Trinamool Congress. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Choudhury Mohan Jatua of Trinamool Congress won the seat in 2001defeating Nikunja Paik of CPI(M). In 1996Nikunja Paik of CPI(M) defeated Tapan Sardar of Congress. Subhas Roy of CPI(M) won the seat in 1991,1987 and 1982 defeating Sanat Palk of Congress in 1991,Durga Charan Mondal of Congress in 1987and Birendranath Halder of Congress in 1982.Renupada Halder of SUC defeated Subhas Roy of CPI(M) in 1977.The seat did not exist prior to that.
