List of districts of Pakistan by Human Development Index


The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite statistic used to rank some area by level of "human development" and separate developed (Very High development), developing (High and Medium development), and underdeveloped (Low development) areas. The statistics is composed from data on life expectancy, education and per-capita GNI (as an indicator of standard of living) collected at the national level.

This is a list of districts of Pakistan in order of their Human Development Index (HDI) as of 2013, the latest year for which data is available. The HDI values are provided by the Social Development in Pakistan Annual Review 2014-15.

Islamabad is the only district with a Very High level of Human Development. While Lahore and Abbottabad have a High level of Human Development. Every other district has a Medium or a Low level of Human Development. Punjab and Sindh have a Medium level of Human Development, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have a Low level of Human Development.

This data is published by a third-party organisation and is not officially endorsed by the United Nations. Thus, it is incompatible with data published by the United Nations due to variations in the calculations and formulas used by both parties.
