Shah Rukh Khan (also credited as Shahrukh Khan) is an Indian actor, producer, playback singer, action director and television personality. He began his career appearing in several television serials in the late 1980s and made his film debut in Deewana (1992) which won him the Filmfare Best Debut Award. The following year, he appeared in the critically acclaimed crime thriller Baazigar, for which he earned his first Filmfare Best Actor Award. Khan has won fifteen Filmfare Awards, and at eight wins, holds the record for the most Filmfare Best Actor Awards along with Dilip Kumar. He has also won six IIFA Awards, eight Zee Cine Awards of which six are for Best Actor (also a record), fourteen Star Screen Awards, three Bollywood Movie Awards, two Global Indian Film Awards and was nominated for Best Actor at the Asian Film Awards.
In addition to achieving merit honors, Khan has been awarded several national and international honours which include Best Indian Citizen Award in 1997, the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award from the Government of India in 2005. He was honoured with Rajiv Gandhi Award for "Excellence in the Field of Entertainment" in 2002. In April 2007, a life-size wax statue of Khan was installed at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, London. There are also statues in Hong Kong and New York. Another statue was installed at the Musée Grévin in Paris, the same year.
