Linneus is a small city in Linn County, Missouri, United States. The population was 278 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Linn County.
Linneus was designated county seat in 1839. Originally Linnville, its name was changed to honor Carl Linnaeus in 1840. A post office called Linneus has been in operation since 1840.
The Linn County Courthouse and Linn County Jail and Sheriff's Residence are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Linneus is located at 39°52′41″N 93°11′16″W / 39.87806°N 93.18778°W (39.878082, -93.187813). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.08 square miles (2.80 km2), of which, 1.07 square miles (2.77 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.
