McEwen Mining Inc. is a gold and silver production company based in Toronto, Canada. The company was founded in January 2012 as a result of a merger between US Gold Corporation and Minera Andes.
The company holds a 49% interest in Minera Santa Cruz SA, owner of the San José silver-gold mine that is located near Goldcorp's Cerro Negro project in Argentina; and Phase I of the El Gallo complex in Sinaloa, Mexico.
The Company has a portfolio of exploration land packages surrounding the San José mine and Goldcorp's Cerro Negro project in Santa Cruz province Argentina, adjoining Barrick's Cortez mine in Nevada and surrounding its El Gallo complex in Mexico.
In February 2017 McEwen Mining announced it had entered into an agreement to acquire all issued and outstanding securities of Lexam VG Gold Inc.
