Kinmundy is a city in Marion County, Illinois, United States. The population was 892 at the 2000 census.

Kinmundy is believed to be named after a place in Scotland.

According to the 2010 census, Kinmundy has a total area of 1.32 square miles (3.42 km2), of which 1.05 square miles (2.72 km2) (or 79.55%) is land and 0.27 square miles (0.70 km2) (or 20.45%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 892 people, 365 households, and 246 families residing in the city. The population density was 865.2 people per square mile (334.4/km²). There were 409 housing units at an average density of 396.7 per square mile (153.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.21% White, 0.34% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.34% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.67% of the population.

There were 365 households out of which 31.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
