Karthikai,Kartika, Karthika or Kartik (Bengali: কার্তিক Kartik, Hindi: कार्तिक Kārtika, Kannada: ಕಾರ್ತಿಕ, Odia: କାର୍ତ୍ତିକ, Maithili: कातिक, Marathi: कार्तिक, Nepali: कार्त्तिक, Sanskrit: कार्तिकः,Telugu: కార్తీకం, Tamil: கார்த்திகை), is a Hinduism coined month of Bengali (7th month), Tamil (8th month),Maithili (7th month) and Nepali calendar(7th month), named after the Hindu god, Kartikeya.
In the lunar Hindu calendar, Kartika begins with the new moon in November and is the eighth month of the year except in Gujarat, where it marks the new year that falls on Diwali. In Vedic Jyotish, Karthikai begins with the Sun's entry into Libra and is the eighth month of the year.
