Joseph Tsai is a Taiwanese-Canadian businessman. He is the co-founder and vice chairman of Alibaba Group.

Joseph Tsai was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He attended high school at the Lawrenceville School, and has undergraduate and law degrees from Yale University where he also played collegiate lacrosse.

According to Forbes, he has an estimated net worth of $4.9 billion in January 2016.

He is married to Clara Ming-Hua Wu, a granddaughter of Wu San-Lien, the former mayor of Taipei City. Clara graduated from Stanford University, where she studied international relations, and has an MBA degree from Harvard Business School. She is an advisor for Taobao.
