Jefferson is a town in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,178 at the 2010 census. The city of Jefferson is located partially within the town. The census-designated place of Helenville is also located in the town.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 43.0 square miles (111.3 km2), of which 42.5 square miles (110.1 km2) is land and 0.46 square miles (1.2 km2), or 1.04%, is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,265 people, 759 households, and 589 families residing in the town. The population density was 52.1 people per square mile (20.1/km²). There were 793 housing units at an average density of 18.2 per square mile (7.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.45% White, 0.18% Black or African American, 0.44% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.31% from other races, and 0.40% from two or more races. 0.97% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 759 households out of which 29.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.2% were married couples living together, 4.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.3% were non-families. 16.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 2.98.
