The list of people he has trained includes Jonah Lomu, Hidetoshi Nakata, Noriyuki Higashiyama, Ray Sefo, Glaube Feitosa, Aleksandr Pitchkounov, Jordan Tai, Doug Viney, Ewerton Teixeira, Mark Hunt, and Jan Soukup.

Jayson was born in New Zealand. He is of Cook Islands (Mangaia) and Niue (Liku) descent.
He attended Otahuhu College from 1985 until 1989.

Originally a Muay Thai exponent from Phillip Lam Lee Gar in Auckland, NZ, Jayson Vemoa fought under NZ trainer Lollo Heimuli from 1990. Early in his career Jayson trained at Balmoral Lee Gar gym alongside Ray Sefo, Jason Suttie, Rony Sefo, John Conway, and Doug Viney. Well known throughout Oceania in the 1990s he obtained professional New Zealand, South Pacific, Commonwealth, Intercontinental and World Titles.

Memorable fights of his professional career consist of Muay Thai legend Nokweed Devy (WMTA World Champion) from Thailand, Scott Bannon (WKA World Champion) from Australia, Winston Walker (ISKA World Champion) from the United Kingdom and Australian Champions Tony Hill (AUS), Brian Murphy (AUS), Steve Rosten (AUS) and Aaron Kirby (AUS).
Jayson Vemoa remains a LEE GAR family member to present day.
