James Liddy (1934–2008) was an Irish poet, born in Dublin, Ireland.

Along with Michael Hartnett and Liam O’Connor, he edited the seminal Arena, 1963–1965. A facsimile, This was Arena/introduced by James Liddy, was published by the Malton Press in 1982.

He was a member of Aosdána, and lived and taught in Kenosha, WI at UW-Parkside in 1970 and 1971, and later at UW-M in Milwaukee,WI in the USA.
He died on November 5, 2008.
