Homestead Township is a civil township of Benzie County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,357 at the 2010 census. The township is situated in the center of the county. The village of Honor is located within the township on U.S. Highway 31.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 30.3 square miles (78.4 km2), of which 30.2 square miles (78.2 km2) is land and 0.12 square miles (0.3 km2), or 0.33%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,078 people, 790 households, and 594 families residing in the township. The population density was 68.7 per square mile (26.5/km²). There were 985 housing units at an average density of 32.6 per square mile (12.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 94.47% White, 0.24% African American, 2.79% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.63% from other races, and 1.78% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.40% of the population.
There were 790 households out of which 33.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.3% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 19.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.00.
