"Headstrong" is the debut single from the band Trapt and the lead single from their 2002 self-titled debut album. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock (1 week on July 26, 2003) and Modern Rock (5 weeks on May 31, 2003) charts and No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as No. 1 on the singles recurrent charts. It crossed over to mainstream pop radio, peaking at No. 4 on Billboard Mainstream Top 40. The song also won two Billboard Music Awards in 2003 for "Best Modern Rock Track" and "Best Rock Track". It was featured on the video game Karaoke Revolution Party.

"Headstrong" was rated the No. 1 alternative song and No. 8 rock song of the decade of the 2000s by Billboard.[1]

A music video was produced for "Headstrong" which largely focuses on the band performing in front of a crowd. Paper and other debris are seen flying past in furious winds as the group plays in an urban nighttime setting. The video found considerable airplay on MTV2 and MMUSA upon release. The video was directed by Brian Scott Weber.

"Headstrong" was featured in the video game MX Unleashed, the pro wrestling video game Legends of Wrestling II, NHL 2003, Donkey Konga 2, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock's downloadable track and Karaoke Revolution Party. "Headstrong" is also in the films Grind and Never Back Down, and was used in previews for the Bruce Willis film Tears of the Sun and a trailer for the movie Aeon Flux. It also served as Seth Skyfire and Shelly Martinez's entrance music while in Ohio Valley Wrestling as well as the theme song for WWE Bad Blood 2003. It was also used to introduce the starting players for the Philadelphia Phantoms. It is the current television introduction theme for TKO Major League MMA, a Canadian Mixed Martial Arts organization. The song was used as the introduction theme to the Shinhan Bank Starleague in 2005. The Tampa Bay Lightning mixed this song with highlights from their playoff run in 2003–2004 season (Tampa Bay ended up winning the Stanley Cup Finals that year). The song was also used as the introduction to the first season of Nopi Tunervision which featured Dalene Curtis as the host.
