Grindel (French: Grandelle) is a municipality in the district of Thierstein in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.

Grindel is first mentioned in 1147 as Crindil.

Grindel has an area, as of 2009, of 3.06 square kilometers (1.18 sq mi). Of this area, 1.26 km2 (0.49 sq mi) or 41.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.53 km2 (0.59 sq mi) or 50.0% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.2 km2 (0.077 sq mi) or 6.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.3% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.0%. Out of the forested land, 43.1% of the total land area is heavily forested and 6.9% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 2.0% is used for growing crops and 30.7% is pastures, while 5.2% is used for orchards or vine crops and 3.3% is used for alpine pastures.

The municipality is an S-shaped linear village located in the Thierstein district.

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Gules a Fir tree Vert trunked Sable issuant from a Base of the second and a Fence fesswise of the third.

Grindel has a population (as of December 2015) of 486. As of 2008, 3.7% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (1999–2009 ) the population has changed at a rate of -3.2%. It has changed at a rate of 0.4% due to migration and at a rate of -1.6% due to births and deaths.

Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (484 or 98.0%), with French being second most common (4 or 0.8%) and Italian being third (1 or 0.2%).
