Gregorio Ramos Mexía or Mejia (1725-1808) was a Spanish merchant and politician. He served as perpetual regidor of the city of Buenos Aires.
Ramos Mexía arrived at the Río de la Plata from Cádiz, on March 14, 1749. He served for forty years the position of councilman of the Cabildo, occupying the position that had been of Miguel Gerónimo de Esparza, the oldest regidor that had the city of Buenos Aires, who resigned his position at the age of 88. He was in charge of the realization of the second Buenos Aires census in 1778. He also held the post of alcalde of Buenos Aires, serving on an interim basis for several periods.
Gregorio Ramos Mexía was the son of Juan Ramos Mexia and María Josefa Márquez de Velazco, belonging to a noble Sevillian family. He was married in the Buenos Aires Cathedral to María Cristina Ross del Pozo Silva, daughter of Guillermo Ross, a Scottish military man, who professed the Protestant religion and Maria Antonia del Pozo Silva y Toledo, born in Buenos Aires in 1719. He and his wife were the parents of numerous children, including and Ildefonso Ramos Mexía, Governor of Buenos Aires Province in 1820.
Gregorio was the patriarch of the Ramos Mexia family in the Argentina, related to the founding of the city Ramos Mejía in Buenos Aires Province.
