Fjugesta is the hometown of Southeastern Louisiana University international English writing teacher Birgitta Ramsey.

In Sweden, Fjugesta is widely identified with the "de Fjugesta morden" (the Fjugesta murders), for which Swedish Olympic athlete Olle Möller was convicted.
