Farm to Market Road 172 or FM 172 is a two-lane, state-maintained highway that connects the farming areas of eastern Archer County and southern Clay County, Texas (USA). It passes just south of and crosses a portion of Lake Arrowhead in Clay County.
FM 172 was designated on June 11, 1945 from SH 148 west to Bluegrove On May 23, 1951, it extended west to Deer Creek. On November 20, 1951, the route from Bluegrove to Deer Creek was either cancelled or transferred to FM 1883. Instead, it was rerouted west to US 281 at Scotland, replacing FM 1783 which started at the Clay County Line. On January 23, 1953, it extended westward and southward to a road intersection 2.4 miles from SH 25. On October 28, 1953, it extended to SH 25, completing its current route.
FM 172 terminates at SH 25 near Windthorst and at SH 148 near Bluegrove, between Henrietta and Jacksboro.
