Faedis (Slovene: Fojda) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) northeast of Udine, on the border with Slovenia. As of 31 December 2004[update], it had a population of 3,101 and an area of 46.6 square kilometres (18.0 sq mi). According to the 1971 census, 23,2% of the population are Slovenes.
