Duggirala is a village in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Duggirala mandal in Tenali revenue division. The village is most notable for the production of Turmeric.
The Chola dynasty has its presence in the area during 12th century AD, based on the inscriptions on the temple of Kesavaswami in the village.
Duggirala is located at 16°19′38″N 80°37′41″E / 16.3271°N 80.6280°E and at an altitude of 14 m (46 ft). A major canal from Sitanagaram of Tadepalle passes through the village, which draws water from Krishna river and forms a part of Western Delta system. It also houses the headlocks of Kommamuru and Nizampatnam canals.
As of 2011[update]Census of India, the town had a population of 11,098. The total population constitute, 5,505 males, 5,593 females and 1,053 children, in the age group of 0–6 years. The average literacy rate stands at 76.75% with 7,709 literates, higher than the national average of 73.00%.
Duggirala gram panchayat is the local self-government of the village. It is divided into 16 wards and each ward is represented by a ward member. The present sarpanch of the village is Meghavath Parvathi Bai. The secretary of the panchayat is V.V.V.Murali Krishna Mohan. The village is also the headquarters for Executive Engineer of Krishna Western Delta system.
