According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.4 km2), of which 2.4 square miles (6.3 km2) is land and 0.039 square miles (0.1 km2), or 1.48%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,179 people, 682 households, and 632 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,001.4 people per square mile (385.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 94.08% White, 1.15% African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.96% Asian, 1.10% from other races, and 2.07% from two or more races.
