Descendants 2 is an upcoming Disney Channel original movie set to premiere in the summer of 2017 on Disney Channel. It is the sequel to the 2015 film Descendants. The film stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Sofia Carson, Mitchell Hope and China Anne McClain.
Ben, now king of Auradon, attempts to help Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay further adjust to life at Auradon. However, when Mal cracks under pressure and returns to the Isle of the Lost, Evie, Carlos and Jay must help disguise Ben so they can return to the Isle and find her. Also, Mal is shocked to find Uma (China Anne McClain), Ursula's daughter, and her friends, Harry (Thomas Doherty), Captain Hook's son, and Gil (Dylan Playfair), Gaston's son, who have taken her place as ruler of the island.
At the 2015 D23 Expo, Disney announced that a Descendants sequel film had been ordered. An official announcement was made on Disney Channel's Facebook page on October 15, 2015.Deadline Hollywood reported that Parriott and McGibbon would return as screenwriters and executive producers for the sequel and that the cast from the first film was expected to return.
On June 10, 2016, China Anne McClain, who was already voicing Freddie on the Descendants spinoff series Descendants: Wicked World, was announced to be playing Ursula's daughter, Uma, in Descendants 2. In July 2016 it was revealed that Thomas Doherty would play the role of Harry, the son of Captain Hook. Earlier Sarah Jeffery revealed that she would not be returning, while Brenna D'Amico revealed that she would be returning in Descendants 2, as well as Dianne Doan, Jedidiah Goodacre, and Zachary Gibson.
