The court is headed by the President of the Court of Appeal, who is the second most important person in Malaysian judiciary after the Chief Justice of Malaysia.
Effective 1 April 2017, the current President of the Court of Appeal is Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin, consequential to previous President, Md. Raus Sharif's elevation to the office of Chief Justice of Federal Court following Arifin Zakaria's retirement.
