Chester Township is a township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,940 at the 2010 census, down from 4,604 at the 2000 census.

Chester Township is located in southern Delaware County at 39°50′43″N 75°23′37″W / 39.84528°N 75.39361°W / 39.84528; -75.39361 (39.845411, -75.393857). It is bordered to the south by the city of Chester, to the east by the borough of Upland, to the northeast by the borough of Brookhaven, to the north by Aston Township, and to the west by Upper Chichester Township.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.7 km2), all land. Chester Creek, a southeast-flowing tributary of the Delaware River, flows through the township. Interstate 95 crosses the southern part of the township, intersecting U.S. Route 322 at Exit 4.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4,604 people, 1,641 households, and 1,188 families residing in the township. The population density was 3,301.7 people per square mile (1,278.9/km²). There were 1,754 housing units at an average density of 1,257.8 per square mile (487.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 22.72% White, 73.33% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.59% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.96% from other races, and 2.13% from two or more races. 2.06% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
