Chengdu No.7 High School (Chinese: 成都七中; pinyin: Chéngdu Qizhong) is located at Moziqiao, Chengdu. Chengdu No.7 High School, with the predecessor Mochi Shuyuan founded in Song Dynasty and the predecessor as a modern school established in 1905, was formerly Chengdu County Middle School. It is one of the first key high schools designated by Ministry of Education of China. It is considered as the top high school in Sichuan Province. Chengdu No.7 High school is well-known across the country for its high quality education and good academic performance. It is one of the four "National Model High schools" in China. it was the first high school in Sichuan that were elected to be the key high schools in China. A large number of the students in Chengdu No.7 High School are admitted in the top universities in China and prestigious universities in the world every year.
A brief history of the school follows:
Mochi Shuyuan, founded in the era of Song Dynasty of China.
1852 Mochi Shuyuan was split to be Mochi Shuyuan and Furong Shuyuan.
1905 Mochi Shuyuan and Furong Shuyuan was merged and evolved to establish Chengdu County Advanced Elementary School, which was a four-year school, and at the time there were five-year primary elementary schools.
1906 Chengdu County Middle School (four-year junior middle school)
1924 Chengdu County Middle School (three-year junior middle school)
1931 Chengdu County High School, three-year senior middle class was established.
1950 Chengdu County Middle School incorporated with Chengdu County Female High School which was established in 1930.
1952 Chengdu County Middle School renamed as Chengdu No.7 High School.
The achievement of students in the National College Entrance Examinations and Middle School Entrance Examinations have been the first place in Chengdu and Sichuan for many years. The college admission rate of the school's senior class has remained at around 99%. About 80% of the graduates enroll in key universities in the nation for higher education. The number of students who have won prizes in various contests held by the State, Sichuan Province, and Chengdu City remains high at around 400 each year. In the past five years, 32 students have participated in the finals of National Contests in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and computing. Seven students have joined the national Olympic training teams in different disciplines. Among them, Zhang Yin and Wang Xiaochuan have won the gold medals in the 37th International Math and the 8th International Information Science Olympic Contests, respectively. Yang Jun won the championship of the American National Math Contest in 1992. Many students in Chengdu No.7 High School become the students in top universities in China and in the world every year.
