Chatham is a town in Jackson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 557 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ruston Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Southwest of Chatham is Caney Lake and the Jimmie Davis State Park. '
Chatham is located at 32°18′33″N 92°27′5″W / 32.30917°N 92.45139°W (32.309036, -92.451359).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.8 km2), of which, 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2) of it (13.91%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 623 people, 257 households, and 169 families residing in the town. The population density was 629.8 people per square mile (243.0/km²). There were 302 housing units at an average density of 305.3 per square mile (117.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 55.22% White, 44.30% African American, and 0.48% from two or more races.
There were 257 households out of which 30.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.7% were married couples living together, 22.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.9% were non-families. 31.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 3.02.
